About Us

Wendy

Director Of Services

My name is Wendy O’Sullivan and I am the Founder & Director of Services for the charity, Lizard C.H.I.L.D. Trust, Community Help Improving Learning & Development (LCT).

Our Story

The charity was set up in 1999 for Helston and the Lizard area as a new community initiative. Originally offering services including a family learning programme, toy library and full day nursery with wraparound care and holiday clubs to support families.

Today, we still provide a vital service for our families, we have a very successful day nursery in the Elliot Buildings on the site of St. Michael's School in Helston. This is managed by Sarah Arthur who is a very skilled practitioner and passionate about her role. She believes every child needs the opportunity to learn and be challenged in a safe and secure environment.

Our Community Projects Department is creative in their approach to supply a varied programme which supports families in the area. During the Covid-19 pandemic we continued to support families through various digital media, ensuring health and well-being needs were being met.  We continue to work in partnership with local groups, these joint ventures ensure we maximise our strengths and resources in supporting the most vulnerable groups in our community.

Testimonials

“It’s time for us to leave – we wanted to say a big thank you to everyone at LCT, you have all been so wonderful to us over the years. Always giving both our children the best care and start of their education. I can’t thank you all enough for the support you have always shown us. You support and love will always be appreciated and remembered. Thank you for all the wonderful moments and memories and for giving our kids the best start with their school."
