My name is Wendy O’Sullivan and I am the Founder & Director of Services for the charity, Lizard C.H.I.L.D. Trust, Community Help Improving Learning & Development (LCT).
The charity was set up in 1999 for Helston and the Lizard area as a new community initiative. Originally offering services including, a family learning programme, toy library and full day nursery with wraparound care and holiday clubs to support families.
Today, we still provide a vital service for our families, we have a very successful day nursery in the Elliot Buildings on the site of St. Michael's School in Helston. This is managed by Sarah Arthur who is a very skilled practitioner and passionate about her role. She believes every child needs the opportunity to learn and be challenged in a safe and secure environment.
Our Community Projects Department is creative in their approach to supply a varied programme which supports families in the area. During the Covid-19 pandemic we continue to support families through various digital media, ensuring health and well-being needs are being met. We continue to work in partnership with local groups, these joint ventures ensure we maximise our strengths and resources in supporting the most vulnerable groups in our community.
